US firms assisting Nigeria to create 1m digital jobs

Blinken, US Secretary of State, has disclosed that technology companies in the
United States are collaborating with Nigerian partners to help meet host
President Bola Tinubu's initiative to create one million digital jobs.
Blinken, Blinken, who visited Nigeria to discuss bilateral relations, said
US entrepreneurs and companies are keen to collaborate and participate in
Nigeria's economy, particularly in the technology sector.
"Other companies are hard at work laying undersea cables, using
satellite technology to expand access to the internet," Blinken said.
"Our tech incubators are developing Nigeria's next startups. Our
venture capital firms are working to finance them," the envoy said.
"So we want to work in partnership to help drive Nigeria's
technological revolution, which is creating jobs, its growing businesses, and
it's spurring innovations in both of our countries."
Blinken highlighted one of US President Joe Biden's initiatives, the
Digital Transformation with Africa Initiative.
He stated that the American administration was working and
partnering to promote the development and application of artificial
intelligence for good.
Blinken was speaking following a meeting with Minister of
Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar.
