Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the incorporation of several National Council on Establishments (NCE) resolutions into the state's civil service. This was announced by the State's Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Hameed Ademola-Benco, on Thursday.

Onasanya highlighted the governor's commitment to being a worker-friendly and responsive leader. Among the approved resolutions are the lateral conversion for Information Officers, who will now be addressed as Information/Public Relations Officers, and the entry-level positions for Graduate Nurses and Engineers to Grade Level 10. These measures aim to enhance worker morale.He emphasized that worker welfare is a priority, with various concerns being addressed. The state government has paid worker deductions from July 2022 to date and plans to clear outstanding deductions from March 2021 to June 2022. Leave allowances from January 2023 onward have been settled, and arrears are being worked on. Additionally, July salaries have been paid.
Onasanya also noted the administration's proactive measures, making Ogun the first state in the South West to introduce various palliatives to mitigate the impact of increased petroleum prices. The state has prioritized capacity building and has supported workers' healthcare by covering 50% of costs through the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme.
Regarding the consequential adjustments raised by the labor leader, Mr. Onasanya assured that the two committees set up to address the issue have completed their reports, which will be reviewed.
He pledged to maintain a strong relationship with the labor unions to enhance worker welfare.
Comrade Ademola-Benco expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with the Head of Service on issues affecting the workforce. He thanked the state government for its unwavering support for worker welfare and listed demands such as consequential adjustments on monthly pensions, the contributory pension scheme, and the release of all deductions and leave allowances.
Mrs. Bidemi Alafiatayo, the 2nd Vice Chairman of the NLC, also thanked Governor Abiodun's administration for its worker-friendly initiatives and numerous welfare packages.
