This upcoming facility aims to put an end to the practice of sending aircraft outside Nigeria for routine maintenance once it reaches full operational capacity.

Gbolahan Abatan, President of Air First Maintenance and Repair Facility, shared this exciting news during a meeting with Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Abatan expressed the company's eagerness to collaborate with the state government in establishing the Aircraft Maintenance Facility at Agro Cargo Airport in Ilishan Remo.

In addition to maintenance operations, the company envisions aircraft assembly taking place at the facility, a move expected to generate employment opportunities for locals and individuals from neighboring states.

Abatan praised Governor Abiodun for spearheading the development of a world-class airport in the state and highlighted the fruitful discussions held with the governor. He expressed confidence in receiving the necessary support to kickstart operations by the end of June, pending certification processes.

Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a flight training school aimed at nurturing young pilots and auto engineers, with the intention of eventually assembling aircraft on-site to further bolster job creation efforts.

Engr. Gbenga Dairo, the Commissioner for Transportation, lauded the airport's top-notch facilities, boasting the country's longest runway. He emphasized the cutting-edge technology deployed for aircraft and airport management, affirming Air First's stellar reputation in aircraft maintenance. The state eagerly anticipates the positive impact of hosting such a prominent aircraft maintenance company at the airport.
